Scotland 2-0 Georgia

About an hour before kick-off the heavens opened and there was torrential rain. The referee inspected the pitch and let the match go ahead though. When the match started, there were question marks as to why the match was allowed to take place due to the condition of the pitch. After six minutes, Scotland took the lead. A corner by McGinn was headed away, but the ball stuck in the water and McGregor swept the ball into the bottom left corner. There was confusion afterwards as Georgia complained, and a few minutes later the match was stopped due to the weather conditions. The pitch staff then worked hard to clear the water from the pitch. In the time that followed there were multiple pitch inspections. After passing its third inspection, the match was due to resume at 21:15. As the Scotland players warmed up, the Georgia players refused to come back out. The Georgia players finally came out, and the match resumed at 21:34, 100 minutes after it was suspended. Five minutes after it resumed, Dykes had a header just wide of the post. McGinn also headed wide of the post. towards half time. A few minutes before half time McTominay had a low shot tipped past the post. At the start of the second half, Scotland went 2-0 up. Robertson received a long ball down the left, and a loose ball in the middle fell into the path of McTominay. He controlled the ball with his right foot and hit a low shot with his stretched left foot, that beat the keeper on the left hand side. With twenty minutes remaining, Ryan Porteous headed a free header over the bar. A minute later Georgia should have scored at the other end, but Mikautadze volleyed the ball into the side netting. With five minutes left on the clock, Mikautadze's shot went just over the bar. Two minutes into injury time, a VAR check was done after Kvaratskhelia played a free-kick into the box. Replays showed that it came off Hickey's arm, and the referee awarded a penalty. Up stepped Kvaratskhelia, and he shot over the bar. It ended a miserable night for Georgia, and put Scotland in a very strong position with four wins out of four.
