Scotland travelled to France for a friendly, two days after their place at Euro 2024 was confirmed after Spain defeated Norway in Oslo. It was an inexperienced Scotland side that started against a strong French side, but Scotland took the lead after only 11 minutes. Billy Gilmour picked up a loose pass in the France box and curled it into the bottom right hand corner to score his first senior goal for club or country. Only five minutes later, France were level. A corner from Griezmann was met at the near post by the head of Pavard to head down and in off the far post. Eight minutes later Pavard got his and France's second when his head met with a great cross by Mbappe to score a diving header. Just before half time, France were awarded a penalty after a VAR check showed Liam Cooper pulling on Olivier Giroud's shirt. Mbappe stepped up and made it 3-1. With just over 20 minutes remaining, Griezmann met with a Thuram cross and hit the bar right in front of the goal, but the rebound was volleyed in off the bar from Coman to make it 4-1. A few minutes later, Jacob Brown had a shot tipped past the post. Thuram hit the bar with ten minutes remaining. At the other end Armstrong had a low shot saved, followed by a Brown header that was also saved. It was a match that gave some fringe players a chance to prove themselves.
