Scotland 2-0 Denmark

Going into the final group game against group winners Denmark, Scotland had Dykes, McTominay and Hendry unfit, while Patterson was suspended. This led to a call up for John Souttar and Anthony Ralston. Although Scotland had secured a play-off spot against Moldova, Scotland needed a victory to assure them of being seeded, and therefore playing at home in the semi-final. Denmark were looking to end their campaign with a 100% record.

Scotland began the match very positive and took the match to the Danes. They almost took the lead midway through the first half. A great move ended with Gilmour passing to Christie in the box, before Adams hit a low shot that Schmeichel saved with his foot. Ten minutes later, a long pass was played to Robertson, who squared it to Adams, but his shot was deflected wide. With ten minutes until half-time, Scotland took the lead. A corner to the back post by McGinn was headed back into the middle by Cooper, and Soutter headed it low past Schmeichel. In the second half Denmark came out stronger, and Gordon made a great save from a header by Cornelius, but the flag went up. Just after the hour mark, Adams hit the post, but was also flagged offside. With 82 minutes on the clock, Gordon made a low save past the post from a shot by Skov Olsen. With four minutes remaining, Armstrong played a great ball through to Adams, who beat his man before hitting a great shot that curled in past Schmeichel to make it 2-0. Two minutes later Scotland almost got a third, when McGinn played a great cross to the back post for Adams, who headed it back across goal for Armstrong, but his shot was blocked by Kjaer on the line. It was a result that made sure that Scotland were seeded in the play-offs, and therefore would play their semi-final at Hampden. It also ended Denmark's 100% record, and was their first defeat in a qualifier in five years.
