After the humiliation in Dublin, Steve Clarke needed a comfortable win in Armenia. Things did not get off to a good start when Armenia took the lead after only six minutes. Barseghyan made a run down the right wing before he cut it back for Bichakhchyan to slot it past Gordon. Eight minutes later, Scotland were level. Adams controlled the ball in the box, and layed it off for Armstrong to slot it home. A minute before half time, Armenia were reduced to ten men when Arman Hovhannisyan received two yellow cards immediately, the second for headbutting McGinn. A minute later, Armstrong made it 2-1. He received a McGinn pass in the box with his back to goal, before he turned and hit a low shot past the keeper. Five minutes into the second half, McGinn got his name on the scoresheet. He received a Patterson pass with his back to goal, before turning and hitting a low shot past the keeper. Three minutes later, Adams finally got his goal. Scotland broke away from their own box, and a great ball by Armstrong in his own half was collected by Adams, who curled a shot past the keeper inside their box. In injury time at the end, Kamo Hovhannisyanwas also sent off after a poor challenge on Lewis Ferguson, and also directing a headbutt towards Ralston. It was a morale boosting win for Scotland who topped the group.
