After the disappointment of the play-off against Ukraine it was important that Scotland had a good Nations League campaign. Their first match was a home tie against Armenia, and Scotland almost went ahead after four minutes when an Armstrong shot grazed the outside of the post. A few minutes later a low shot by Robertson was tipped just wide of the post. Just before the half-hour mark, a cross to the back post by Armstrong has headed past the keeper by Anthony Ralston, to give Scotland a 1-0 lead. Five minutes before half time, Scotland made it 2-0. A corner by McGinn to the back post was met by Scott McKenna's low header past the keeper. In injury time at the end of the half, it was almost 3-0. A McKenna header came off the bar, before it was headed back in by Hendry, for McKenna to tap it in. The celebrations were short lived though as VAR ruled that McKenna was offside, making it still 2-0. With ten minutes remaining, a McGinn shot hit the underside of the bar. The match ended 2-0, to get Scotland off to a winning start
