Scotland finished the season playing a friendly away to Mexico in the famous Azteca Stadium. Mexico took an early lead after only 13 minutes when Giovani dos Santos hit a low shot from outside the box, that went in the bottom right hand corner. Just before the half hour mark, Miguel Layun hit the post from a shot outside the box. Debutant Jon McLaughlin then made a save from a Hirving Lozano shot from outside the box. At half time McLaughlin was replaced by another debutant Scott Bain, and he made a save from Héctor Herrera. A couple of minutes later, Oli McBurnie headed a Johnny Russell cross against the post. With 24 minutes remaining Hirving Lozano hit the underside of the bar. He later had a shot saved from Bain, and Peralta knocked in the rebound, but the linesman put his flag up for offside. The match ended 1-0 in a typical end of season friendly.
