The UEFA Coefficient is calculated every two years, after a qualification campaign has finished.
It is the average number of points per game of the last two qualification groups.
This is used for seedings in European Championship draws, and until 2007 was used in World Cup
qualification draws. In 2007 it was changed when it was decided that the FIFA World Rankings would be used
for World Cup draws. The FIFA World Ranking was thought to be more accurate as when the UEFA Coefficient
was used for the Euro 2008 qualification draw, both World Cup finalists were drawn in the same group.
